Working in Des Moines II

The above is one of my favorite paintings. It is of the city of Venice and is hanging at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.
I worked at the Scottish Rite all day today. Had a wonderful time. Don is on vacation so Shane needed someone to help out answering the phone, etc. I really enjoyed myself. Jon helped out by coming over and letting the dogs out while I was at "work." Today the American Diabetes Association held a Gala at the Temple. Our Temple is used by many for their special events. I have to say that it is really nice what has been done to upgrade out Temple and to make is a place people want to come. It is a beautiful venue for all sorts of events including wedding receptions. Click here to go to the Consistory Bolg to see some more pictures.
There is a book which Shane has put together which shows the different ways the entire temple has been utilized at one time or another. I spent some time looking through it.
This beautiful ice sculpture added a touch of elegance to the social hour.
I also had some time to blog and did found Friday and the Wordzzle.
I get to work there all next week also.

And this is the "Princess" she came with her daddy to the practice for the Specialis Procer Lodge. We had a great time under the direction of Charlie Brikerhoff, Past Grand Master and even this "old dog" learned something, We are working to make our Lodge work excellent and I was pro tem for the Junior Warden. I have not done this part since 1977 or there abouts. It was fun to do but the most fun part for me was to have the Princess say "Hi Jay" to me and to come over and pat me and visit with me. She is a very sweet girl. She and her brother were at the Lodge dinner with their dad last night and I played chess with the "Prince" (he has his own rules) - I forget how much I miss being around kids. After 34 years of teaching I still relate to them and find them to be the greatest thing about being on this earth. I love kids (especially well behaved kids) and these two are the greatest. The princess made my day.

Tomorrow I get to go to the Renassiance Faire with my other adopted family. I am really looking forward to going. I hope the weather is good. I am taking my camera so check back tomorrow night for pictures. As always thanks for stopping by and ARTYAL. Hugs, j-bear.
