Throwback Thursday

This is my two cousins (Janet, Loren) and I having a popcorn party. It was actually a posed photo of us taken by a photographer for Iowa State University.  My great-aunt Kate used to work in the office and she told them that she had them use for the picture.  I actually think that it is one of the times when we were sitting still for a minute or two.  We were friends as well a cousins but I do remember mother saying that we could sometimes be brats.

Toad Tuesday

Sleep -  I wake up most mornings around 7:00 AM,  Sometimes it is around 8:00 AM  I go to bed around 1:00 AM. -  I when I was a teen I would sleep until 10:00 or 11 when I could get away with it.  I can still still remember my my grandfather yelling to me "It is time for you to get up if you are alive."  ( I hated that remark)

Sometimes I get a nap in or I doze off when I am reading but I generally don't get much sleep.

If I have something on my mind I will wake up two or three or times and sometimes I would wake up and read for two or three hours.  I know that most of the time I would "worry" and that was no fun. I have been finding ways of getting rid of responsibilities and that helps.

I also think that since I have I started out sleeping on the recliner it has helped.  I used to toss and turn and since I sleep in the there I don't toss around and because I do that the sleep is a better quality sleep and that helps.

I have been watching The Grand Hotel on Netflix.  I thought that it was a movie and then found that is a series and got hooked on it and so sleep has been at a premium. It is sort of like House of Cards which I watched one after the other for three or four days.  I am doing the same with this.  It has some of features of a soap opera and with all the twists and turns of General Hospital. I am really enjoying it.  I shall probably catch up on my sleep sometime.  This little video will give you facts about sleep.  I enjoyed it.

Molly on Monday

Molly Here,

B G took a couple of pictures of his lawnmower "guys" were over this week.  Actually they mow every week.  I like it when they come. If they let it goes for long it tickles my toes.

After they came B G and I went out on our porch and spent some time relaxing...well I relaxed  BG read.  It was beautiful out. In fact it has been really nice not having to run the air conditioner - B G says that he likes that.

B G took some pictures of one of his rabbits.
His other rabbit was too fast.  He hid out in the Prairie

He took some more pictures of me.  He said they were "posed" pictures.

Palette cleanser.

Lounger time

Cassie likes to look outside.  B G won't let her go because she tries to escape.  One time she was gone for three days.

My close up.  Have a Woofing good day.
WooooooF!

Sunflowers and weeds of summer! Photos By Bob Kelly

Nothing says summer like "Sunflowers," and in this instance a big field of them.  Their brilliant brown and yellow flower heads follow the sun as they twist and turn with each passing hour of the day.  Weeds thrive in the warm summer sun, with or without much rain, and two of them are shown here.   The yellow Evening Primrose grows tall on a vertical shaft and has a profusion of yellow flowers along its stem. The small white blooms of the Bindweed plant resemble miniature morning glory blossoms, but unfortunately are labeled as a weed.

A weed can be simply identified as any plant that is growing in the wrong place and not wanted there!  You will see the Bindweeds along the edge of the road, and the Evening Primrose grows in road ditches and prairie habitats.

The domestic sun flowers are easy to spot of course, although there are many varieties of sunflower looking plants that all have different names.  Just enjoy the view, and become as botanical as you wish.  Happy Summer!  (Click to enlarge)

Sunday

It is written: "From all your sins before the Lord shall ye be clean." This is our tradition. The sin towards God, the Day of Atonement atones for; but sins toward man, the Day of Atonement cannot atone for till the neighbor has been appeased.

Found for Friday

I pulled into the crowded parking lot at the local shopping centre and rolled
down the car windows to make sure my Labrador Retriever Pup had fresh air.

She was stretched full-out on the back seat and I wanted to impress upon her that she must remain there. I walked to the curb backward, pointing my finger at the car and saying emphatically,

"Now you stay. Do you hear me?"

"Stay! Stay!"

The driver of a nearby car, a pretty young blonde, gave me a strange look and said,
(this is going to hurt - read on)

"Why don't you just put it in 'Park'?"
