Anniversary

This is my Blog anniversary.    My computer is back from the shop and so I will share this (my first post) in celebration of the February 12, 2007 post. That makes 9 years.  I used to be able to write but since my stokes I really have to struggle to type (and spell) so I have have been more sharing than writing.  I am going to work on more writing but I may just share more of my poetry.

Blogging

Ok, I am taking the plunge. I have been reading blogs for quite awhile and have no idea why people do these but I thought that I would start one and see what happens.

I originally planned to go to a Masonic meeting in Des Moines tonight but the threat of ice and snow scared me off. I am a chicken when it comes to driving in this weather.

Don't expect anything too profound with this. I will put an occasional poem on here and sometimes something else.
Here is one of my favorites:
The Crow Convention

The crows have convened across the way.
Big black birds crowousing with each other.

Hanging out with their crownies.
Strutting around
Chris, Charlie, Carlton, Clarence, and Chip.
Yakking, poking, grabbing and crowoperating.

They’re holding a convention to decide who will be crowned
King of the Crows!
They debate, deliberate and finally designate a leader.
But, as with humans, EGO gets in the way and no one is really chosen.

At the end of the day they fly away to their night homes –

Tomorrow they will convene again – unless it is a Sunday
when they will congregate.

Happy Blogaversary

I began this blog on February 12, 2007. This is the beginning of my 6th year blogging.

2007 654
2008 1187
2009 864

Blogger keeps track of the statistics for me and draws me a chart showing the pageviews

Pageviews today
199
Pageviews yesterday
450

I have a map that keeps track of where people are in the world who view my blog.

A counter which says I am at 226,580 "hits" and
I look at the stats  once in awhile and am quite
awed by the audience for my blog.
I am humbled that people keep reading and
coming back to see what I have to offer.

Over the years I have ranted, educated, told jokes,
shared pictures (my own and the wonderful Bob Kelly's),
tributes to friends and people I admire, told some
stories about my life and what I did as a teacher.
In addition I have let my political views all hang out.
(I claim to be a Progressive Conservative, Radical Socialist.)

I run into people who tell me that they "read my blog."
I don't know whether to be flattered or embarrassed.

I have made many blogfriends through this endeavour.
They run coast to coast.  I feel like they are my family,
and they have helped me get through some rough times.
They have laughed with me and I have cried with them when
we need to and there are always virtual hugs we give each other.

I am never sure whether or not what I write in interesting, I do
not get as many comments as my blogfriend Ur-Spo but then, I do
not write as well as he does. I don't worry much about that.
I used the blog to keep in touch with a few people, mostly my sisters,
one real and one adopted so I could let them know what I
was doing, in the meantime a whole lot of other people have
come along for the ride.  They must enjoy some of it because
my counter tells me so.

That is it, I just thought the milestone was worth noting. Hope you did
also and that you will come back to visit once in awhile.
Always remember that you are loved.  Hugs, j
