Portraits of a Sunrise Photos by Bob Kelly

There was a spectacular sunrise on Christmas morning appearing between about 6:30 and 7:45  I went out on the next morning, hoping to capture something similar, and I was not disappointed.  These photos were taken over a period of about 90 minutes from the first light, through hints and then explosions of reds, and concluding with a lovely but less dramatic sky in shades of yellow and gray and blue.  If you are an early riser, you might find it worth your while to venture out into the open countryside, look to the South East, and see Mother Nature at her finest as you watch and wait.  The changes happen very fast often in less than a minute, as was the case with these photos, each of which is a unique capture of a special event.
