Elephanting

Published on Jun 26, 2016
World-renowned conservationist and Born Free Wildlife Consultant, Ian Redmond OBE was charged and trampled by an adult male elephant whilst monitoring the herd with the MEEM team. Ian has worked in forests in Africa and Asia, mostly on foot, for 40 years and this is the first time he has been injured in his study of animals. The pressures on elephants and their habitat are growing. Please help Born Free to support the Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forest Service to protect Mount Elgon's elephants and forests

Night Music ~ Brin Addison - Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 15 string Harp Guitar

Toad Tales

Corvus is a widely distributed genus of medium-sized to large birds in the family Corvidae. The genus includes species commonly known as crowsravensrooks and jackdaws; there is no consistent distinction between "crows" and "ravens", and these appellations have been assigned to different species chiefly on the basis of their size. In Europe, the word "crow" is used to refer to the carrion crow or the hooded crow, while in North America, it is used for the American crowfish crow, or the northwestern crow.
Ranging in size from the relatively small pigeon-sized jackdaws (Eurasian and Daurian) to the common raven of the Holarctic region and thick-billed raven of the highlands of Ethiopia, the 45 or so members of this genus occur on all temperate continents except South America, and several islands. The crow genus makes up a third of the species in the family Corvidae. The members appear to have evolved in Asia from the corvid stock, which had evolved in Australia. The collective name for a group of crows is a 'flock' or a 'murder'.
Recent research has found some crow species capable of not only tool use, but also tool construction.[2] Crows are now considered to be among the world's most intelligent animals[3] with an encephalization quotient equal to that of many non-human primates.[4]
In medieval times, crows were thought to live abnormally long lives. They were also thought to be monogamous throughout their long lives. They were thought to predict the future, to predict rain and reveal ambushes. Crows were also thought to lead flocks of storks while they crossed the sea to Asia.[5]

Night Music ~ "For Good" Performed by Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel | WICKED the Musical

Molly (and Todd) on Monday

 Molly here,

BG got some good pictures this week.

Of course Todd wasn't too happy about having his picture taken but he warmed up.  BG sat on the porch drinking coffee a couple of times and Todd forgot that he is supposed to be shy and he ran in and out.  BG was smart and let the door propped open and he got excited.

BG was sneaky that way.

BG finally got out and picked up his monthly bouquet .  It is a pretty flower and also has some that will open so there were more blooms soon.  We like it when we have our flowers.

I like to sniff the floor and see the birdies around the bushes.  BG took a picture of me in the bushes but it was of my bottom so I asked him not to share it.

  Here is Todd exploring.

And just some more.  You can click to make them bigger (embiggen) and then see them in all their full glory.  Then click again and you get a slideshow.

Then he took some inside pictures.

I did my back scratch dance to show me that I still "have it"

And my picture for Mr. DeMille.  We like this one.
Thanks for reading my blog.  Woof!

Night Music - In the Mood

Found for Friday

 DOG FOR SALE:
A guy is driving around the back woods of Montana and he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale 'He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.
The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.
'You talk?' he asks.
'Yep,' the Lab replies.
After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'
The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so... I told the CIA.
In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'
'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running...
But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in.
I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.'
'I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'
The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.
'Ten dollars,' the guy says.
'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'
'Because he's a Bullshitter. He's never been out of the yard'
