Ginny stopped over to see Miles last week. He was excited to see her and was all over her. He even jumped up on the back and tried to ride "piggy back" but I wasn't able to get a picture of that.
I had a rather quiet week-end. I had a Home Board meeting in Boone on Saturday morning and then went to the grocery store. Watched a couple of movies on Saturday night and read most of the day on Sunday. Miles has some tennis balls which he likes to chase and so I threw the ball for him some and we enjoyed that. Mostly the same old, same old and I like it that way right now. Am still getting over the bout of what my Dr. said is "going around" so staying close to home is a good thing. I got a small rib eye for supper and could only eat half of it. Just not very hungry. That is a good thing. I think I am on a plateau as far as the diet is concerned but have no scale to be able to weigh myself so it is just a feeling.
Thanks for stopping by. Hugs, j

Thought for Today
While reading this article (When did the GOP lose touch with reality?) I had the following thought:
Today's Republithugs make Gerge W. Bush look like a liberal.

This 'n That
In our world and indeed for thousands of years the Bible has been elevated to almost a God in and of itself. People seem to worship it rather than God and some people call it the inerrant word of God. The problem is that is was written by men. Men who had something to gain by telling a story in a certain way.
This book by Bishop John Shelby Spong takes the mystique away from this book and places it in a perspective that allows the believer and the non-believer both to better understand the book.
To begin with the Bible is not history. It is rather the telling of the Jewish religious story and it goes from a vengeful tribal God to one who embraces the entire world as Love. It is a story not just for the Jewish people but one for the entire world and Bishop Spong takes all of the mystery and superstition out of the Bible and gives us an understanding of the book for today. This is one of those books which I will keep and re-read and reference it over and over. I highly recommend the book. It made me a better Christian by having read it.
I have been a General Hospital watcher for years. There are a few things I am liking about it right now. Just a few. I am very grateful that I have a DVR and can record it and fast forward through much of it. I am through watching "Sonny" - I just don't care about him. He is a thug after all with no redeeming characteristics. The writers would like you to believe that he loves his children but it is all about control. If he does anything for anyone it is because he wants something from them. And the actor playing him half the time just phones in the performance. As for Lulu and Dante, I am so ready for them to be over and done with.. She is also a controlling person..Perhaps that is why she doesn't like Sonny that much.
Luke is getting a raw deal, Elizabeth is delusional and headed for a fall. Perhaps she will go nuts and have to go to the mental hospital, Then Lucky can be stuck raising the kids. You know I could go on and on about this crappy show and the only reason I still watch it is habit. Perhaps it is time to break that one.
I hesitate to mention anything about health on here but I have been dealing with something that my doctor says is "going around" - Suffice it to say he suggested Imodium AD to solve the problem. It seems to help but that is the reason I have been staying close to home. I have a meeting on Saturday. With luck I will get through it with no problem.
Miles is staying with me for awhile. Jon is doing some Cadet teaching and working on papers and classes and is not able to be home much so he gets to visit Bailey, Cassie and me. It is nice to have him around. Thanks for stopping by - Hugs, j

Found For Friday
"According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.
Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring. Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
We should have known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost." A TALE FROM THE COUNTRY
"Going to bed the other night, I noticed some people in my shed stealing things. I phoned the police but was told no one was in the area to help. They said they would send someone over as soon as possible.
I hung up.
A minute later I rang again: "Hello, I called you a minute ago because there were some people in my shed, but you don't have to worry now. I shot them."
Within minutes there were half a dozen police cars in the area, plus a helicopter and an armed tactical response unit. They caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the offices said: "I thought you said you'd shot them!"
To which I replied: "I thought you said there was no one available!"
Ahhhhh……the wisdom of of the ages. A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time.
So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site.
She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.
"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?
"Morris Feinberg," he replied.
"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"
"For about 60 years."
"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"
"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims."
"I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop."
"I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults, and to love their fellow man."
"How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?"
"Like I'm talking to a fucking wall.

30. Oh I just couldn't. She's only sixteen.
29. I'll take Shakespeare for $1000, Alex.
28. Duct tape won't fix that.
27. Come to think of it, I'll have a Heineken.
26. We don't keep firearms in this house.
25. You can't feed that to the dog. 24. That car is too old and unsafe to drive.

My friend Diane has added her voice to the cause. Read her story of Sweet Shirley the elephant at Forks off the Moment. Thanks Diane.
