The soft blanket of moist fog floated about two feet above the soccer field, as the morning sky began to hint of a brilliant sunrise. Elsewhere in the field the automatic sprinklers were nourishing the grass on the two practice football fields, creating a lovely misty pattern in the sky. Two solitary Canadian Geese flew by with their honking punctuating the soft stillness of the early morning, but still looking lovely silhouetted against the emerging golden sky.
As the sun began to rise, its penetrating rays provided backlighting for grasses and weeds covered in morning dew, making them look like jeweled treasures. Finally the sun fully emerged over the trees blasting the landscape in all its glory, announcing yet another day on the ISU soccer and softball field areas across from Jack Trice Stadium. A few minuets later the soft blanket of fog faded into sky as the morning air was warmed. It was a special half hour to be there all alone, just mother nature and me sharing a moment, as cars hustled along University Boulevard, taking their drivers to their morning jobs. Some of the drivers may have seen the golden color in the sky, but I am sure no one saw it like I did on this beautiful day!
