I don't remember where I got this little tray but I love so it is this week's Throwback. Again it is a Nippon. I did not know I had so many. There is another one somewhere I shall look for it.
Nippon porcelain was made in Japan from 1891 to 1921. Nippon is the Japanese word for "Japan." Nippon porcelain was made to be exported to the west, with designs specifically for American tastes, and was less expensive than most European porcelain. A few firms continued to use the word Nippon on ceramics after 1921 as a part of the company name more than as an identification of the country of origin. More pieces marked Nippon will be found in the Dragonware, Moriage, and Noritake categories.
