These geneticists have uncovered Africa's three largest ivory cartels

Researchers in South Africa's Greater Kruger National Park discovered that African bush elephants (Loxodonta africana) steer clear of angry honeybees.



Researchers hoped to use an aerial survey to count elephants in Botswana. Instead, the survey discovered one of the largest elephant slaughters to date.


The newly tested genes may be an important key to the gentle giants’ surprisingly low rates of cancer.
