Saturday morning while enjoying the sun on my face I noticed lots of fluttering in my Pin Oak tree that is in the front yard. Looking carefully I recognized that my morning visitors several Rose Breasted Grossbeaks. They were feasting on the tiny immature Pin Oak leaves that were starting to emerge, to the birds seeming like a delicate salad. The Grossbeaks hopped from limb to limb, eating all they wished, and I got my Nikon camera and big lens out and for the first time in two months clicked its shutter. These are two of the best shots I got. These birds will be around for several more weeks, and then as it warms up, they and many other colorful songbirds will move farther north. Enjoy!
