Something Yummy for Saturday




Ambrosia Cake (Submitted by Jean Cole Bates)

1                Yellow cake mix
2                 Eggs
½ cup          Water
1  small can Mandarin Oranges, drained
½ cup        Cooking oil.
                 TOPPING
1 8 oz. carton      Cool Whip
1 3 oz .pkg.         Instant vanilla pudding
1 small can Crushed pineapple, undrained
Procedure
1   In mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients.
2   Grease 9 x 13 pan.
3   Pour cake batter in cake pan.
4   Bake: 350°, 25 - 30 minutes.
5   Cool.
6   In a medium bowl, combine topping ingredients.
7   Spread on cake.

Yield: 9 x 13



Auntie's Boiled Cake (Submitted by Frances Cole Dawson)
1  cup  Brown sugar
½ cup  Lard
1  cup  Water
1  cup  Seeded raisins
1  tsp   Cloves
1  tsp   Cinnamon
½ tsp     Nutmeg
1 2/2      cups       Flour
1 tsp      Soda
1 tsp      Baking powder
1 tsp      Salt
1            Egg
Procedure
1   In saucepan place lard, brown sugar, water, raisins, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
2    Boil 2 minutes.
3    Add dry ingredients.
4   Add egg.
5    Mix.
6   Pour into 8 x 10 pan.
7   Bake: 375°, until done.
Yield: 8 x 10 pan

my grandmother used to make something very much like the ambrosia cake
