Something Yummy for Saturday




Fruit Cake Bon-Bon's (Submitted by Ellen Cole)

1   6 oz. can        Frozen orange juice, thawed
½  cup                 Molasses
1   15 oz. pkg.    Raisins
1   1 lb. pkg.        Candied fruit
½  cup                 Butter
2/3 cup                Sugar
3                         Eggs
½ cup        Nuts, chopped
1/8 tsp       Soda
       cups    Flour  
1tsp          Cinnamon
½ tsp        Nutmeg
¼ tsp        Allspice
¼ tsp        Cloves
Procedure
1   In saucepan combine: juice, molasses, and raisins.
2   Bring to a boil over medium heat.
3   Simmer 5 minutes.
4   Remove from heat.
5   Stir in candied fruit.
6   In a large bowl cream shortening and sugar.
7   Add eggs, one at a time.
8   Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices.
9   Stir into creamed mixture.
10 Add fruit and nuts.
11 Fill small baking cups 2/3 full.

12 Bake:  350°, 20 - 25 minutes.




Caramel Brownies (Submitted by Mary Jane Rabinowitz)

1                         German Chocolate cake mix
1   stick                Margarine, melted
1/3 cup                Evaporated milk
1 6 or 9 oz. pkg.  Chocolate chips
1pkg. (50) pieces         Kraft caramels
1/3cup            Evaporated milk
1   pkg.            Walnuts, chopped
Procedure
1   In a large bowl, mix cake mix: cake mix, margarine, and evaporated mike.
2   Place 1/3 to 1/2 of batter in greased cake pan.
3   Bake 6 minutes at 350°.
4   In a double boiler, melt caramels, chocolate chips, evaporated milk.
5   Pour over batter.
6   Add walnuts.
7   Place the rest of the batter on top.
8   Bake:  at 325° for 15 minutes.
Yield: 9 x 13 pan
