Toad Tuesday

 27So God created man in

his own image, in the image of God

created he him; male and female

created he them.

It has a long time since I have actually written something for the blog.  For one thing it is hard to spell and sometimes I have a really time get some words out.  But I am going to make an attempt.

I was attending a wedding one time with some teachers.  We were there because the bride was one of our students.  I don't really like going to weddings but at that time I went (no longer I don't go to weddings or funerals now) and they did something that had happened before.  The Wedding party dismissed and greeted all of the guests. (I suppose this has happened in other weddings but as I said I have not gone to many of these things so it was unique to me.)

The church was not one that I had gone to before but it was standard fare.. I mean except for the Catholic faith the 38,000 other domination's are pretty much the same. The only thing I really did not like was the pastor's sermon.  He went on and on about how the bride and groom would have a good marriage because the wife was such a good servant. The pastor also called them "Team Jones" (the name was changed to protect the privacy of the "team") and it was one of those churches where the "wife was the head" of the "team" and she was going become the "servant".

Well, that did not sit well with me so I did what I could.. As we greeted the couple I mentioned that it said in the Bible that God created man as the image of God and that image was male and female.  I mentioned to the couple that from on I would see them together as the image of God.

(Male AND female none of this B S of Adam being created first or out of Adam's rib...Nope just there together male and female together.)

I did not go on to say that I think of them as EQUALS and not one better than the other.  Nope just together as the "image" of God.  And by the way the name for God is:

“The word Elohim is the plural of El and is the first name of God given in the Old Testament: “In the beginning, God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth, (Gen. 1:1).

So that is my little story.  It really doesn't really amount into much but it does get me willing to write something and while it isn't much it is something and I will try to do something again sometime.

One more thing. I really do dislike the way that women have treated.  It does not matter whether they were Catholic or Protestant nor does it matter the way that women have been treated by Islam.  It is wrong and it pisses me off.

What is the difference whether it is in a wife or a mother, it is still Eve the temptress that we must beware of in any woman… I fail to see what use woman can be to man, if one excludes the function of bearing children. — Saint Augustine

Women should not be enlightened or educated in any way. They should, in fact, be segregated as they are the cause of hideous and involuntary erections in holy men. —Saint Augustine

Woman was merely man’s helpmate, a function which pertains to her alone. She is not the image of God but as far as man is concerned, he is by himself the image of God. — Saint Augustine

As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active power of the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of a woman comes from defect in the active power. — Saint Thomas Aquinas

Woman is a misbegotten man and has a faulty and defective nature in comparison to his. Therefore she is unsure in herself. What she cannot get, she seeks to obtain through lying and diabolical deceptions. And so, to put it briefly, one must be on one’s guard with every woman, as if she were a poisonous snake and the horned devil. … Thus in evil and perverse doings woman is cleverer, that is, slyer, than man. Her feelings drive woman toward every evil, just as reason impels man toward all good. — St. Albertus Magnus

Every woman should be filled with shame by the thought that she is a woman. —Clement of Alexandria,Church father, venerated as a Saint until the 17th century

If [women] become tired or even die, that does not matter. Let them die in childbirth—that is why they are there. — Martin Luther

Woman was made for only one reason, to serve and obey man. — John Knox

Wife: Be content to be insignificant. What loss would it be to God or man had you never been born. — John Wesley

A wife should submit herself to the leadership of her husband. Leadership in the church should always be male. — Southern Baptist Convention (2000)
