Congratulations to the Egyptians

Vice-Presidenet Omar Suleiman made the announcement a short time ago:

In these difficult circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave the position of the presidency. He has commissioned the armed forces council to direct the issues of the state.

Throughout all of this the Military has been a reasonable force, protecting the protesters and now they have the chance to prove to the cynics and the pundits that Egypt is not like other countries and they are indeed a secular nation for whom the statement made by the Muslims who were protecting the Christians which I have had posted in the right hand column since this began “We either live together, or we die together" is indeed the way the Egyptians believe and act.  And to prove that this is reciprocal the Christians protected the Muslims as they were at prayer in the Square.  I am hopeful that the Egyptians can come together to form a new government and society.

This wil also have a profound effect on the young people in other Arab countries.

I really like his comparison of Facebook & Twitter to the pamphlets of Thomas Paine! Brilliant (especially considering the recent abuse of Thomas Paine by others).
