On Wisconsin

Union Busters Remember this song:

Unions are vital to the freedoms we have and we will not have them busted by the likes of you.

And furthermore - Walker appears to have manufactured his "Budget Crisis"
In its Jan. 31 memo to legislators on the condition of the state’s budget, the Fiscal Bureau determined that the state will end the year with a balance of $121.4 million.

To the extent that there is an imbalance -- Walker claims there is a $137 million deficit -- it is not because of a drop in revenues or increases in the cost of state employee contracts, benefits or pensions. It is because Walker and his allies pushed through $140 million in new spending for special-interest groups in January. If the Legislature were simply to rescind Walker’s new spending schemes -- or delay their implementation until they are offset by fresh revenues -- the “crisis” would not exist.

And here is Rachel's take on what is happening.

And this just in from the ISEA

We are at a critical point in the debate on school funding and need your help. We need to send a clear message that our schools need adequate funding in order to meet the needs of Iowa students. We plan to deliver our petition to the Legislature next week and need as many signatures as possible.

Please go to www.iowakidsfirst.org sign the petition. Then, send the link to your friends and family and ask them to sign it, too! It will only take a couple of minutes and could make a huge difference!

Thank you for all that you do to make Iowa schools great and for helping deliver this important message.

Chris Bern
ISEA President
