Goin Fishin.
Last week there was a Great White Egret photo on this blog, sitting in a tree like a statue. This particular Egret went on a fishing trip Saturday! He looks and sees a ripple in the water, and in a flash he thrusts his beak into the water, and emerges with a fish. Now the problem is to rotate the fish 90 degrees in the air, with nothing but body motion so it can go down the hatch, head first! A flip and wiggle, sometimes with the help of the fish, lines the snack up for the swallow....and down it goes!! If you go to the west beach area of Jester Park on Saylorville Lake, you may just see this three feet high bird wading in the shallows.....goin fishin! Enjoy!
