Just sayin

The entire family was out of town today. Ginny went to Bruce's family in Jewell and the rest of the folks went up to Minnesota to see my cousin's new baby. I don't know what Jon did. I know he was going to clean out his grandparent's garage I hope they had a good time. The weather was supposed to be awful.

I remember one time when Chris and Tom were still alive that we went to Minnesota for a visit and it snowed and was crummy the entire time. We were warm and cozy in their home and except for a trip out to get mixings for margaritas which were plentiful and good everybody stayed in. On the way home Mother fell and twisted her ankle and could not even get out of the car to go to the restroom. When I got her back to Ames it was right to the Clinic where Dr. Wolfe took care of her. Now they are all gone and he is my Dr and I give him credit for keeping me alive 7 years ago. But I digress.

I meant to talk about what I did today. - Nothing. I did not speak to another human being all day long. The only time I went out of the house was to take the garbage out to the curb. Thanksgiving used to be fun, we went up to Mary Jane and Morries and played cards all week-end. Over the past 7 years I allowed myself to get over involved with the Masonic Fraternity and you know you don't really have the kind of friends in the fraternity that you do in life, They are friends at Lodge and don't really get involved in your life. And if you are single with no children you seldom get invited to activities outside of Lodge activities. And that is fine. It is just the way it is. We see each other at Lodge and seldom do other things together.

For awhile I was fine with this but recently I began to question my over involvement and so I have pulled back. I am limiting my "meeting nights" and activities. I need to do some other things. Even if it is just like today. I read a book. I used to read a lot of books. Two or three a week. Sometimes more. I miss that. I find that it is harder to stay awake when I read than I used to but that is OK, I just nap and then wake up and continue reading.

Today I made it my goad to finish The Templar Salvation. by Raymond Khoury. I enjoyed it tremendously. You can read about it by clicking on the link above. I had read The Last Templar and was not really satisfied with its ending. I was more satisfied with this book. It takes place in the time of the Knights Templar and in modern times and even has some modern themes woven into the book. Khoury is a good author who kept my interest through the entire book, There was enough speculative history balanced with blood-thirsty action to satisfy me. It also has led me to wonder about the Sufi poet Rumi whose works I had read some of previously. I will be looking for more of his writing. I think it has power and depth.

Anyway I finished it and now I am watching Avatar which I did not go see on the big screen. HBO has it now and so I will watch it. I think that perhaps I made a mistake in not seeing it in the theater,

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for stopping by. A shortened version of Found For Friday is ready to go up at 7:00 tomorrow morning. I am meeting my cousin at the Consistory tomorrow at 11:00 AM to pick up a chest I had down there which we were using for Specialis Procer but I am taking it back as they no longer need it. I may go to see Burlesque tomorrow or perhaps Saturday. I will see it this week-end.
