DeMolay Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor was founded for the purpose of bringing together a select few out of the millions who have knelt at the altar of DeMolay. Legion of Honor recipients must have actively demonstrated outstanding leadership in some field of endeavor, whether it be a civic, professional, fraternal or spiritual arena. It consists of men who can be implicitly relied upon, as the years pass, to aid young men in carrying the ideals of DeMolay into every walk of life.
The Legion's mission is to consecrate the hearts and minds of its members to an unfaltering belief of God, support of the public schools, and defense of the rights of all.

Legionnaires throughout DeMolay have been united in Preceptories, carrying out their responsibilities by extending their leadership to DeMolay. All members of the Preceptory must be legionnaires, either active or honorary.

The Des Moines Preceptory meets on March 18 every year for a Banquet followed by a rededication ceremony. I am the secretary for the group and Monday was the 18th

The Order of DeMolay was founded as an organization for young men in their teens and is generally sponsored by a Masonic Lodge.  It was named for Jacques de Molay (c. 1244 – 18 March 1314) who was the 23rd and last Grand Master of the Knights Templar,
We always meet on the 18th of March as it was the date the King of France and the Pope burned DeMolay to death, ending the Order of Knights Templar.
We meet at the Willow Creek Golf and Country Club in Des Moines.  I always have difficulty finding the place but thanks to my smart phone and Bill's driving we were able to get there in time for me to collect the money.
We had a wonderful pork chop dinner and it was more than most of us could eat. Very tasty.

I enjoy this group of Masons who have dedicated themselves to an organization that teaches leadership and values to young men.

We are conferring the degree here on May 4. I'm struggling to learn the ceremony, which hasn't been done for a number of years.
