Ames had five inches of rain on Sunday night, 1.5 inches on Monday night, and Tuesday night four more inches fell. That combined with water run off from counties north of us, has created a severe flood in
Ames this morning. For those
familiar with streets here, the following are closed as of 9:30 AM: Lincoln Way at University Blvd, South 4
th at Squaw Creek, the road past
Brookside park, West 13
th street down by the new
aquatic center, as well as on the east end of 13
th street by River Valley East. Highway 30 is closed where it crosses the Skunk River, and Interstate 35 is closed about 2 miles south of
Ames, as the Skunk River there is over the road. As much water as there is now, more is to arrive by noon today from points north. South Duff Avenue is closed all the way from
Panera's down past highway 30, and all business places along South Duff have major water concerns. Stay high and dry if you can!!
This photo shows the parking lot area east of Jack Trice Stadium.
This photo was taken standing in front of the football stadium and looking north and north east.
I am going to piggyback on Bob's post and put my slide show of the flood in here. I had my car serviced this morning and drove around and took some photos. Not easy to get anywhere because it seems like we are now living on an island. Anyway here they are:

Yikes! Was your property affected?
You must have been the only person in IA that wasn't home scooping water. Enjoyed the shots, Bob. Thanks!
