One of my favorite buildings in Des Moines is the Principal Tower. I think I got a pretty good picture of it on Friday night when I went to Specialis Procer Lodge for the Stated Meeting. Except for the trip to the Doctor it was the first time that I had been out of the house all week. It was good to get out. After the meeting many of us went to the Latin King for dinner. I had a wonderful time. After the meal a few of us went into the bar for more conversation.. I got home at 12:30 - Had to drive home in fog and that was not fun but I made it. Then the "boys" got me up about 6:00 AM.
On Saturday I had the summer meeting of Iowa College SRICF and since I am secretary of that organization also I had to be there. It was also a good meeting and some pictures follow:
First as I walked in I checked out the Grand Banquet Room. It was set up for a Wedding reception. The table cloths look black but were actually a dark blue. It looked wonderful.
We held our meeting in the 33rd degree room. We are a growing college and took in two new members yesterday. You have to be asked to join and if you ask you won't be invited. But it is a great group and I enjoy my association with the other Fraters immensely.
It was somewhat warm in the room so the Chief Adept (Head of the College) suggested that some may wish to take off their coats.
Following the meeting we adjourned to the Tapestry Lounge to have a wonderful social time and Prime Rib banquet.
After the Banquet Frater Jason gave a presentation on Sacred Geometry. It was well received.
It was illustrated with models which you can see in the photo below. I would like to have some of them. It is interesting to contemplate the connections between Masonry and Geometry.
After I got home I fell asleep. Probably do to exhaustion but also probably due to the piece of sour cream raisin pie (with great-grandmother's pie crust) which I ate following the wonderful Prime Rib dinner which we had. I know I am not supposed to do things like that but once in awhile when something like home-made sour cream raisin pie --- well you just gott to..
This afternoon I am watching Simon Boccanegra on IPTV live from the Met. I had seen it in the theater and written a review. The review led me to a Facebook friendship with one of the performers: Stephen Gaertnerr who wrote me to make a correction as he was actually the performer who stepped in to play Paolo at the last minute. It is wonderful to e able to see it again and to listen to Verdi's wonderful music. For free this time. Of course that is one of the reasons I support IPTV and you should also.
Thanks for stopping by. ARTYAL. Hugs, j
