What's better than one Black Eyed Susan? - Photos by Bob Kelly
What's better than one Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta)?…..how about a million of them with masses of yellows and browns! This property was seeded last fall with gazillions of Black Eyed Susan seeds, and it appears that all of them grew! The purple plant (Hoary Vervain….Verbena stricta) may be a weed, but if it is an unintended consequence it still is beautiful one! If you look carefully at the second image you can see a little worm in the lower right corner of the largest blossom, that was an unintended subject, but the gracious photographer left him there for fun!
