Road Trip to Sioux City

Kurt and I joined about 70 Masons in Sioux City to witness the Super Excellent Master Degree. We drove up on Friday Night and were a little late getting there as we witnessed a rollover accident on the Interstate. A young woman was driving a pick-up truck and passed us. I saw the truck flip and roll and land upside down. We stopped and for a brief moment I thought of my sister and her accident which put her in a wheel chair. Natasha was much luckier. She was wearing a seat belt and was able to roll down the window and crawl out. Chipper and perky she said "No, I'm fine" when I told her the 911 operator wanted to know if she needed an ambulance. - So we were just on time for the degree at 7:30 and missed dinner. So we went to dinner after the degree with Grand Commander Bryce and had a great time,

The pictures from the two days are on my web albums here and here - and they are on a slide show just above.

They closed last evening with a chain of friendship. It was the largest one I have ever seen.

The Sioux City York Rite does excellent work. I was very impressed and congratulate them on this event.

It was fun to see so many Companions and Sir Knights in attendance. This morning we stayed for the Order of the Red Cross for Commandery. I have not seen it for at least 25 years as it is not often done. It is too bad as it is very impressive when done in a professional manner. It was well worth the trip up and I enjoyed the company on the way up and back.

We woke up to snow. I think it is way to early for the white shit. Way to early.

We stopped in Council Bluffs for lunch on the way home at a Casino. Wow what good food. I played a dollar poker machine and won a dollar so I broke even.

I will put the movie up after I finish up-loading it.

My daughter and her boyfriends were the first ones upon a rollover Saturday night. They were returning from a wedding in Red Oak. Sometime before they got up to I-80 (near Atlantic), a car passed them really fast. They commented about hoping that a cop would catch him. Just a few minutes later they came up to the same car. It had rolled a couple times and was also back on its wheels. The driver crawwled out. He was obviously drunk, but didn't want anyone called because he wasn't 21. We, it turns out that when the EMTs got there, he had several broken ribs and a broken shoulder, plus a really sore neck which would require more attention. He told them he had just signed up for the air force, but I suspect that might get reviewed now. They found his phone, and claled his parents, who didn't seem too concerned. And when the EMTs called them to tell where he was being taken, they weren't all that certain they would even come see him in the hospital. Bad parents, or just tough love. I suspect the former.
