St. Bartholomew Conclave - Annual Meeting

St. Bartholomew Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine has two new Knights Companions. At our Annual meeting we were pleased to add Greg Andersen and Terry Osborne to our membership.

After the meeting the Banquet was held in the Tapestry Lounge of the Des Moines Scottish Rite Temple. The ladies add a lot to our meeting and we are always happy to have them with us.

New Sovereign Jeff Buchman is from Sioux City. There are two Conclaves in the state and each has a limit of about 55 members plus Emeritus Members.
A chance to visit and socialize is always a plus for the meeting.

Most Worshipful Brother Jack Butler, Grand Master of Masons in Iowa and New Sovereign Jeff at the head table. I introduced Jack as the "Most Powerful Mason in the State of Iowa." It is a good thing he is such a nice person or I might have been in trouble.
Outgoing Sovereign D. Dean Johnson and his friend, Sovereign of St. Ignatius Conclave (the other Conclave) Tim S. Anderson and his lady. St. Ignatius will hold their meeting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in about a month.

I have been Recorder of our Conclave since 1983. As such there is a lot for me to do to get ready for the meeting. I worked on and off for several days last week and pretty much steady for all of yesterday. Until 1:00 last evening. I am glad that this is behind me but I always enjoy this meeting. One thing that happened was kind of embarrassing. I started out this morning and had to run to the pharmacy to pick up some stupid pills. Then I had to swing by Craig's to pick up some things I needed to have with me for the day. I then blithely took off for Des Moines. I used the West route through Madrid and enjoyed the trip down. I needed to take a shirt back to Hensley's. I did that and drove to downtown Des Moines. I was all set to get there in plenty of time to have a relaxed time of it. I was almost an hour and a half early.

As I pulled up to the Des Moines Temple I realized that I had forgotten to pick up the flowers for the tables. And they were in Ames. I used to have them delivered to the Temple but a couple of years ago I decided to pick them up instead. So there I was. In Des Moines with aobut $60 worth of flowers back in Ames. Thank goodness for the Interstate. I took off for Ames and picked up the flowers, let the dogs out and drove back to Des Moines. I got there and got my "stuff" (thank heavens for my wheeled catalog case) and got set up for the meeting. Our numbers were down somewhat this year but it was a very congenial group. All in all it was a very satisfying time. Thanks for stopping by. Hugs, j
