Wednesday - Hump Day

Well, today was an interesting day. I had to get up and go to see the dermatologist this morning. I have had a rough spot on my left cheek for ages. Some days it is bothersome and other times I did not even know it was there. I had asked Dr. Wolfe about it and he had me go to the dermatologist so I went out this morning. I was there at 8:45 filling out the form because I had "never been to that department" before.

He told me that it was sun damage (He actually used a rather large term for it but I can't remember it) - (he also looked at the top of my ear) and that it "could" develop into a skin cancer. He treated it by spraying liquid nitrogen on it and it was not a pleasant experience but nothing that I could not stand. Since that time my cheek is rosy. But eventually it will heal and it will be much better.

Then I picked up the mail for the Lodge at the Post Office and found that the postal employee had stuffed the mail box with mail from 248 rather than 249. So somebody probably didn't get their mail today. I then had to deal with that. There is something wrong with the utilities at the Lodge. Our bill was way high. This for a month when there was not much activity in the building at all. Somebody smarter than me will have to figure it out.

As I was driving out to the Dr. I realized that I did not have my cell phone with me. I was concerned as I was expecting someone to call me. When I got back I looked for it but it was no where near the usual place. I looked all over for it -envisioning an expensive replacement cost and could not find it. So I had no long distance. Cousin George had telephoned me while I was out and wanted me to call him. I could not do that so that was bothersome. Fortunately he called back so I could talk to him. He is 90 years old and is being inducted into the Ames High School Athletic Hall of Fame tomorrow night and I "get" to go and represent him and pick up his award. He was named to three all-American teams so it is quite a big deal for him and I am glad to be able to share in his night. I just wish he were able to be here in person.

Oh, one other thing that is neat. My friend Nathan who taught with me at Roosevelt School is now the Computer guru for McFarland Clinic and I stopped back to see him and his set up. He has a really neat computer. Has two giant screens and he also has a hands free telephone system. We had a nice visit. His wife has just retired from teaching and the two of them took a cruise to Alaska, It sounded wonderful,

Then this afternoon I went out to the Stompin' Grounds to meet Adam for coffee. He wanted to interview me for a project he is doing. (That is twice I have been interviewed since May - I am becoming an expert). I just wanted to see and visit with him. We had a nice chat. Then I went to pick up my cleaning. $51. !!! - Then to the grocery store where I picked up supper and when I got home Jon was here. He had taken Max for a walk. To the river! Yesterday I spent $$$$ to have Max groomed. He looked beautiful. Today Jon took him for a walk (Bailey was very jealous) and brought him back with muddy feet. I was somewhat wrathy. But Max is his dog and they had fun and Max loved it so who am I to complain.

On a bright note Jon found my cell phone for me so I now have it back See "nothing is ever lost. Oh yes and I found the dog leash from the other day and I am not going to tell you where. Needless to say "if it had been a snake it would have bitten me."

Then I fell asleep during the first TV show of the evening. I need to go to sleep earlier so I won't be so tired.

I spent the rest of the evening working on the "pre" minutes for tomorrow's stated meeting. Since I won't be there I have to have it extra ready for my substitute...called a Pro Tempore or Pro Tem in Masonic lingo. On top of that I have to finish getting ready for Saturday and that is the Annual Meeting of the Red Cross of Constantine. Then I think things will settle down and I will become an attendee rather than a person with major responsibility and perhaps I can find time to have coffee with some friends and catch up with what is going on in their lives.

I may go out and volunteer in the Obama Office. I stopped in and got my bumper sticker. I had ordered one and made a donation and am still waiting for my magnetic sign for the car. Got it and a button. I think I need to let people know who I am for (Yeah Right).

I was able to listen to the new Pete Seeger album and I really like it. He does some talking and a lot of singing. I really enjoyed listening to it.

So that is it for today. I was busy, frustrated, productive and had an enjoyable visit with one of my favorite colleagues and another with one of my favorite former students and I saw my nephew. What more could I ask for. Maybe winning the lottery. Thanks for stopping by, Hugs, j
