Ospreys

While I was in Oklahoma Bob Kelly was out with his camera. He got some wonderful pictures of Ospreys.
Bob writes:

Jester Park along side of Saylorville Lake has been one of several nesting homes to Osprey families for several years. In this case a flat platform was placed atop a dead tree for stability, and the Ospreys build their nest on top of it. In the first image the female is sitting on the nest with eggs or hatchlings (I never could determine which it was.) In the second image the male approaches with a fish in its talons for his mate, and at the last minute decided to abort his landing and come back later. In the third image and from a different angle he approaches the snag branch to land, which he did a split second after this shot, and he then hopped down to share the catch. The orange colored fish is not from Saylorville Lake most likely but rather is from someones backyard pond. The fish is a koi or large goldfish, but I sure the Ospreys enjoyed it. Stalking, observing, and waiting for the right moments made the few hours necessary to capture these images, most worthwhile for me. I hope you enjoy them!
