So this morning I read an anti Obama comment on Facebook from a young college student. Then the universe answered his negativity with a wonderful argument about what liberals have done for America. I recommend you go read it.
And if you don't read the entire article here is at least a part you should read:
"Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things...every one! So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, 'Liberal,' as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won't work, Senator, because I will pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge of honor."

only schmudge is it was the republicans who pushed for Black rights after the civil war. They pushed - and got - the 14th amendment, which ironcially the Republicans now want gone.
yeahbut - the Tepublicans of today are not the Republicans ot then. Not even of Eisenhower'sera. They have morphed into something awful.
The citizens of planet Earth who live outside the USA have no say in the election of your legislature. But our lives are influenced by your electoral decisions almost as much as yours are, and in some places probably more. I think I am speaking for most of us when I say that the world feels a heck of a lot safer place to live with Obama in charge than it has done for many years (under Republican and Democratic rule alike).
Obama will not go down in history as an exciting president. But sometimes the ordinary, even the slightly boring, is exactly what the world needs. We are living in such a time.
Please don't get rid of him after just four years.
