Pictures from Bob - Wakefield Woods


Notes for the pictures below - The first shot is of the Grey Headed Coneflower, so called because its seed head turns grey when the seeds have fallen, although the yellow petals may still hold on. I shot this with a very fast shutter speed and a wide open aperture, to throw the background softly out of focus but still add color, and it makes for a nice effect. The coneflowers were photographed at Wakefield Woods, a delightful small county park north of Ames. (Note: This is where Bob took the pictures of the Bluebird.)
The second photo shows a closeup of a gorgeous planting in a large planter that is one of many in front of the entrance area to Reiman Gardens. Those planters and the hanging baskets along the entrance are reason enough to go visit, and you can see them for free.
