Friday Diary

This is the Library at the Scottish Rite. Kurt is cataloging the collection and there is/will be a catalog on line. Yesterday the room was rearranged and it is now sort of like a little private Men's Club in the Scottish Rite. The shelves are lined with books and the pool table has been moved to the north side of the room and the study table and TV/Conversation is now on the South side of the room.
They aren't shown in these photos but the small tables are in the center between the two areas. It is very homy and intimate and I really think the Brothers will enjoy it
The magazines on the table are copies of the Scottish Rite Journal that have now all been sorted and will soon be grouped together by year for storage on the shelves so they can be accessed. It was a HUGE job and while I personally didn't do much I did help a couple of time. Kurt has done the majority of the work.
This is the newly designed interior of the Olympic Flame Restaurant on the East Side of Des Moines on Grand Avenue. Kurt and I had lunch there on Friday and it was supurb. I got a bowl of the Lemon Chicken Soup which I love. (Kurt sampled it and said it tasted like "chicken noodle soup on steroids.") We both had the Gyros sandwich and small Greek Salad which was excellent. On Friday nights they have belly dancers. I enjoyed the belly dancers when I was in Egypt. If I ever learn how to scan pictures I will show you the picture of the belly dancer sitting on my lap in Cairo. We both liked the picture below.
After the Specialis Procer meeting many of us went to Centro's for dinner. I had one of their hamburgers as I was still full from lunch. (and I couldn't finish it so I have half of it left for supper) The food there is excellent and the restaurant is one of our favorite places to go. It is too bad they don't have a private room where we could meet for one of our Festive Boards to listen to a paper. At our Stated Meeting later this month Brothe John is giving the paper. I have not heard the topic yet but I know it will be excellent.
