The Transformation

As she walked her cocker spaniel down the winding road
She was carrying a heavy load
It was her penultimate day upon this earth
Her fetters would be released for a new birth
The warranty had expired on this body and soon
She was to be on the tarmac the next day at noon.

The Judge had said it was the law.
The quartz watch on her dog’s left front paw
and the paparazzi following close behind
both indicated that it was time – she didn’t mind!
She wanted a dinner with apple sauce and grits
And she het out some earsplitting fits.

She had wanted to spend a lackadaisical day
Eating spinach with her salamander pets
(Their lives were interwoven with the vets)
Instead here she was walking along
Her heart was singing a wonderful song

She wanted to fly and for that she would need to win
One last match - there would be no compromise,
As they played tennis for the last possible prize.
After wining and eating her burgers and fries.
An intangible feeling over her spread
As her old body she did shed.

A beautiful Raven she became this time
A wonderful creative friend of mine.

Very nice poem. Good use of the words, too.

He doth the megawordzzle
and makes it rhyme
It seems the bard
has found his time

I liked it much
and envied some
the master's touch
that struck me dumb

Nice..Nice..Nice

OK let me get this straight. First you invent the 'mega' and now you turn it toward poetry.

and you inspire poetic comments! how lovely is Richard.

you're awesome Mr. Simser.
