This Week's Ten Word Challenge will be:
preparation, tic-tac-toe, splurge, auction block, the bitter end, milk, papyrus, when the parade passes by, bill of lading, stone wall

Mini Challenge:
polar bear, 20 seconds, get it together, spasmodic, antiquity

Phrog wondered about the preparation he was having to make. Why did he need an Optometrist interpreter? After all he was just going to the Order of the Salamanders tic-tac-toe Convention where tic-tac-toe aficionados from all over the world would come to compete. He thought that perhaps he would splurge and purchase a golden pen to use in the contest. There was one being put up on the e-bay auction block but he was unsure if he could hold out until the bitter end.

He put down his glass of milk, and picked up the ancient papyrus. He took it out to cross to the corridor to the other side of the Temple but had to wait because of a passing parade. His cell phone rang. It played "Ode to Joy" so he knew it was the Supreme Magus calling him. The conversation was brief. He told the Magus he would be right there when the parade passes by. He would have to wait to go to the main office to pick up the bill of lading, that the Supreme Magus wanted him to bring. The Magus told him he would be sitting by the stone wall when he got to the Temple.

Just then a polar bear passed by so he knew that within 20 seconds the parade would be over. He would get it together, yell at a few people and then there would have to be some spasmodic activity to get the Magus what he wanted. It was actually from the dark recesses of
antiquity and was probably the solution to world domination by the Order of the Salamanders.

Next Week's Ten Word Challenge will be: translation, crunchy, cat’s paw, trunk, I love raspberry tarts, global warming, star struck, the midnight ride of Paul Revere, fragile, Spring fever

Mini Challenge: pancakes and syrup, flat tire, mongoose, this place looks like a bordello, first dance

I am not sure I understand all of it, but the use of all the words was fantastic.

This just gets better and better. Every word just seems to belong and make sense. I love the whole Royal Order thing.

I love that the polar bear signifies the end of the parade, a bit like Santa at the Thanksgiving parade

The solution to the world domination of the Order. Whew. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Brilliant, as always.

Your entries are always so tasty.
Great story.

I think the salamanders will win. I see the signs everywhere. Great use of the words.

I like the polar bear ends the parade and he has to wait.

I liked your story. I guess even a Phrog can't hop to it if a parade is in the way! It looks like he's going to make up for the wait later on, though.

I put my faith in the order of salamanders. Maybe Phrog can bypass the Optometrist interpreter?

Intriguing...
