"Well, I am glad that is over!" said Saydie. "I was able to duck most of their questions although it was an impossibility to duck all of them." I am just so glad that the accountant showed up in the nick of time. He appeared bewildered, however - sort of like an insipid hemoglobin."

"Oh Saydie," Sallyie replied "you don't mean hemoglobin - you meant to say hobgoblin. Honestly sometimes your malapropisms just slay me. Anyway I am glad it is over. Now we must hurry or we will be late for the Order of the Salamanders Meeting."

The sisters hurried off to the Great Cavern for the meeting.

Brother Nightshade was guarding the door. It seemed he had been there since
the beginning of time. "Advance and give the password," he stated in his usual automatic way.

This was just a formality as he knew full well who the Sisters were. After all they were the Great Queens of the Order. He did have a tendency to mix them up and had to
juxtapose them in his mind before he could get them straightened out. Nightshade was a barracuda about guarding the door and no one got by him without the password and secret sign of the Order.

The Order had been growing
exponentially of late and it was about time to start a new Cavern. The sisters were worried about that. After all they did not want to be split up. They liked the group they were in even though some of the members were a bit insipid. At least they were all friendly. There was a lot of playful banter before the meeting began. The sisters always enjoyed that. They liked to tease and did so with a flourish

As they were about to
delve into the mysteries of the Order they noticed that Phrog was missing.

"Where do you suppose he is?" asked Sallyie.

"Perhaps he went to purchase new
braces to keep his pants up" Saydie replied.

"I hope he gets red ones." said Sallyie -"They would look so nice with his green skin. Sort of Christmasie. Oh, here he comes now."

"No that is not him it is just a
fragment of your imagination. Oh dear, there he is. I wonder what is wrong now?"

"There you go again - You mean figment - But yes, it is him and he looks so very sad - I do hope he is all right."

Next Week's Ten Word Challenge will be: tiramisu, transfixed, evacuation, Queen of the Nile, pillowcase, grammatical, voice inflection, pacified, microclimate, swami

And for the Mini Challenge: maggots, thermal pocket, industrial, bovine, feminized

These are just getting harder and harder. Thanks Raven for challenging us. Now I can read yours. I have been waiting.

This is just wonderful! I love the way you used hemoglobin and figment. Just so darned clever. I'm feeling sad for poor phrog. I hope he finds a new love interest soon - or something to cheer him up.

I learned a new word - malapropism - and like Raven I love how you did it!

I also love how the sisters talk to each other - so loving and quirky.

and poor Phrog ...

Oh poor Phrog. :(

Todays malaprops were awesome. I thought about using braces as suspenders but wasn't sure any of the readers would know that meaning. As always you gotta love those Salamander gals.

I see everyone was intrigued by the malapropisms. It was indeed very clever. It was the first thing that got my attention.

I'm guessing by the comments this is an ongoing story - I'll have to check that out.

Thank you for your kind comments on my mini challenge today.
