Iowa Research Lodge # 2

Iowa Research Lodge #2 met at the Scottish Rite Temple in Des Moines tonight. We met in the 33 degree room of the Temple and had a very good meeting under the direction of Worshipful Master Wade Sheeler. Brother Wade has done a great job as Master this year.

Following a delicious meal we were addressed by Brother Bob Davis, 33rd Degree Grand Cross, from Oklahoma. His talk was entitled Fraternalism--The Lost Word in Charity. It was an expanded version of his paper on his blog which can be read here. This was the annual Jerry Marsengill Lecture and was very well received by the Brothers and Ladies in attendance.
Most Worshipful Jack L. Butler, Grand Master, also addressed the Lodge.
Brother Bob signed copies of his book book on manhood in America—which focuses on the fraternal quest for the ideal in masculinity. The book is distributed to RL#2 members who are paid up on their dues. S. Brent Morris' book A Radical in the East ( a new edition with two new papers) is at the printers and will soon be published by the Lodge.

Information on joining the Lodge may be found on the Web Site of the Lodge here. We have around 600 members from all over the world. It is one of the best bargains in Freemasonry. Tom Gruis was elected the new Master of the Lodge.
Addendum:  Grand Secretary Crawford sent these additional pictures.  j
