Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

John Edwards on Letterman

I saw the show last night and enjoyed watching again. Kudos to Edwards and Dave re. Bill O'Reilley and overall Edwards is a good, fun interview. He certainly deflected all the Oprah supports Obama talk!
I just can't get behind him - part of my issue is that he is very Tom Cruise like, especially when he laughs. I see so little depth in him. Now - if his wife was running ...

Well we will have to disagree there. I think his positions are very good. Actually the "Tom Cruise" thing doesn't hold water with me. I watched the Tom Cruise video about Scientology and he is just way "off the wall" - When I look in his eyes I don't see the same thing I see when I look at Edwards. When I look at Edwards I see intelligence, caring, compassion, a man who can do things to help a lot of us. I see some of that in Hillary. My opinion is still out on Obama but I will vote for one of them come November. That is a given.

I think I need to retract the Tom Cruise thing. I've very annoyed with and disappointed in Edwards right now. He said some things around the time that Hillary "cried" that I found sexist and offensive. It wasn't even that he went after Hillary, that's his job but it came off as sexist.
BUT that doesn't excuse insinuating by comparison to Cruise that he's nuts. He certainly isn't - I think I just went for the emotional sound byte. since I hate when the news folks do that I gotta check myself first.

Thanks for calling me on it Jay, made me stop and think which is what I should have done before I hit publish :)
