...the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support. Geo. Washington Feb. 22, 1732

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
Robert Kennedy, South Africa 1966.

Way Back When

In 1980 I was Master of Arcadia Lodge. I was a lot younger then. Steve gave me the picture tonight. Ken had it. There is one hanging in the Lodge. I am really glad to have this picture. For one thing it isn't too bad a picture of me. That was 28 years ago. I am 66 now so I was 38 or 39 then depending on how you count. There are four of us who are still alive (maybe five but we lost track on one Brother) Good friends and good brothers. I was very fortunate to be able to have such good officers.
Addendum: I've been asked to add names.
Back row: Ed Powers, Mike Smith, Dan Shaffer, Fred Schneider, Adel Throckmorton, Oliver Boyington
Front: "Red" Dale, Steve Westvold, Jay Simser, Hugh Hossle, Sabin Nichols

I recognized Hugh Hossle right away, and also you. What a prince of a man he was! And Virginia was his perfect "good right arm."

Thanks Jay, it was nice to see those names put up with the pictures. Two outstanding PGHP's in this picture as well!
