Friendship Night at Arcadia Lodge

Tonight, Arcadia Lodge hosted a Friendship Night to introduce Freemasonry to those who are our friends and are interested in learning more about what we are and what we do. Brother Wade Sheeler from Newton Lodge #59 was the featured speaker and he gave an interesting talk about Masonry.

He remarked that Masons consider themselves Brothers under the Fatherhood of God. He also mentioned that it does not matter what the Mason defines as God as long as he holds the belief in God.

He stated that there are three separate ceremonies or Degrees which a man goes through when he joins the Lodge and explained how we use the working tools of the Mason for lessons to help us to improve our character.

He mentioned that the Grand Lodge of Iowa was formed in 1844 and he gave us an overview of Masonry, its origins and traditions.

He closed by giving several personal experiences he had regarding his Masonic experience. He stated that the lessons we learn in the Lodge room are lived outside the room as we live those lessons of Freemasonry.

Following the meeting the members and guests enjoyed ice cream sundaes and cookies prepared by Junior Warden David Baker and his son Alex.
