Update on Cedar Rapids

From Doug Heath - Used by permission
Hello

About the Masonic Buildings in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Well the Masonic Library and the Masonic Temple and Scottish Rite Temple along with the Shrine ALL were high and dry, and suffered NO problems. We lost power for varing amounts of time and the Temple and Scottish Rite Building should have power tomorrow, The Masonic Library has power and is coordinating the relief efforts for our members who need physical help, so if you know anyone that has been flooded or needs any kind of help let the Grand Lodge Know. If you would like to donate time or money Call the Grand Lodge and tell them. 319-365-1438.

As you may be aware Fred Madison (York Rite Sec/Recorder) had his business and storage areas inundated with several feet of water from the flood last week. The authorities have Okayed the property for recovery of items. Fred is planning to be at his shop located at 425 6th St. SW tomorrow at noon. Fred thinks the property will probably need to be demolished. The records of the CR York Rite and Kingston lodge were in a house next door to his shop.

The total loss was approximated about 3 Billion Dollarsregarding Cedar Rapids, IA and area, and a 2 Billion dollar loss statewide for the Farmers, more figures will come.

Please keep ALL the people that are in distress at this time in your Prayers
