Favorite Song from a Musical

Back in the 80's I went to a movie called "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." Charles Durning played the Governor of Texas and his song in the clip below seems to me to be a precursor of someone we know today. Or as Craig would say "Remind you of anyone!"

Durning won a Lifetime Achievement Award last night at the Screen Actors Guild (which I forgot to watch) and I salute him for this performance which seems to remind me of politicians everywhere. Give yourself a morning Hug. j

Charles Durning is one of the most talented actors of our time. I think I've seen all his screen performances. BTW, he's one of a few survivors of the infamous attack in WW II on American POWs at Malmedy, Belgium. The surrendering engineering battalion, caught behind enemy lines when the main American Forces retreated, were gathered together and brought to a large field when German machine guns which had been hidden in trucks, were brought to bear upon them. Only a few men survived this attack and were witnesses to the event. More than 100 US Servicemen died. The Germans slaughtered these unarmed soldiers. He told this story one Memorial Day, and I had to weep with him.
